Of the many controversies associated with Jammu and Kashmir's article 370 is the right of Dalits, who had been resettled in the state in 1957. The 70 families, which came in first to fill in for striking sweepers here, have now grown to over 500.
The Valmiks or dalits here have ahd only one option- to work as sweepers. But now, the younger generation is exploring options and questioning why they should be denied equal opportunities.
